Labor Day

US Labor Day falls on the first Monday in September and honors workers' contributions. It grew from the labor movement and became a federal holiday in 1894; it is separate from May 1 observances elsewhere. Bakers, firefighters and nurses invite children to talk about the work that helps a community thrive.
