Autumn Shape and Color Play
A single leaf, an acorn beside a leaf, pumpkins with a sunflower, a leafy wreath and a pumpkin wagon give you different shapes to explore. Pick one or two pages to start; the wagon scene has more small details, and you do not need to finish all five.

Try the activity
Choose a shape to start with
Look through the pages and choose something you want to color. The single leaf has broad spaces; the acorn cap and sunflower center offer smaller sections. On the wagon page, you can start with one pumpkin and leave the rest for later.
Try a few colors
Test two or three colors on scrap paper. Repeat a color in a few leaf sections, pumpkin segments or flower petals, then see what changes when you add another. Your colors can come from your imagination; they do not have to look realistic.
Look for different outlines
Compare the rounded acorn with the pointed leaf edges, or the broad pumpkin sections with the small shapes in the sunflower center. Find one outline you like and follow it with your eyes before coloring. You can leave some areas white.
Make a little autumn display
Lay your pages next to each other on a table or display them together. Notice where the same color appears in different shapes. Add the wagon scene if you want more to explore, or keep your display to a single favorite page.
Another idea
The wreath has a large blank center. Write a short title there by hand, or write it on a separate sheet next to your pictures. You can also keep the center empty.
