Try the activity
Choose a picture and a color
Pick a shark picture and try a few colors on spare paper. Color one part of its body with any color you like; you do not need to finish the whole sheet.
Follow the head outline
Look along the outline of the head. The hammerhead drawing has a wide head extending to both sides. If you have a second picture, point out where its head outline differs.
Look for spots and small details
In the whale shark picture, find the repeated oval spots. In the hammerhead picture, look for the shells; in the great white shark picture, look for the row of rounded stones. Notice a fin or some bubbles in your chosen picture too.
Choose colors and share a shape
Color the spots or a seabed detail with colors of your choice. Place two pictures side by side if you printed a second one, and point to a shape you like. You can show your idea without speaking.
Another idea
On another sheet, sketch a simple head outline, a fin or a row of spots from your picture. Try a new color combination beside your coloring page.
