Dragonfly Coloring Activity: Wings, Plants and Clouds
One dragonfly is beside a tall curved reed with two grass tufts below. Another spreads its wings above a long angled leaf, with one rear foot touching the edge. A third appears between two rounded clouds. Compare the drawings by pointing, following outlines and trying colors.

Try the activity
Choose two pictures
Start with the reed and leaf pages. Add them to your print list, keep the sheets you want and print or download the list as a PDF. Add the cloud page if you like: all three pictures use three pages; an optional cover adds one more.
Follow the four wings
Point to the four wing outlines in each drawing, then find the long segmented body. Compare the broad wing shapes before looking at their small inner cells. You can point without reading or coloring every cell.
Compare what is around it
On the reed page, follow the tall curved plant and find the two smaller grass tufts below. On the leaf page, follow the slanting leaf and point to the rear foot touching its edge. On the optional cloud page, find one cloud at the upper left and another at the lower right.
Repeat a color and look again
Test two or three colors on scrap paper. Use the same wing color on two pictures and a different shade for the reed or leaf. The fine wing cells and leg lines can stay white. Show a detail you noticed; finishing every page is optional.
Another idea
Show a grown-up the reed curve or leaf vein before and after coloring. Does the color make the line easier to follow? Keep the sheets whole and compare the illustrations without treating them as a species-identification chart.
