Choose a Caterpillar Picture

Some caterpillars fill the page with rounded body sections, while others follow a leaf edge or a bending stem. You can also find a pair on separate leaves, drops on a leaf, a fallen log and an open leafy frame.

Begin with the plain outline for broad coloring areas. Spots and leaf veins add smaller shapes; the fern-and-log scene and leafy frame offer more details. Compare the preview rather than choosing only by the number of caterpillars.

Try it together

Pick two colors and repeat them along the body sections on one page. On a second page, try a different color for the spots or the leaf veins. Put the finished pictures side by side and point to one pattern you changed.
