Hearts for patterns, color pairs and handmade cards

The fifteen pictures offer distinct ways to use a heart shape. Find a single open outline, overlapping hearts, six hearts in three sizes, circles and stripes in patchwork, a flower wreath or a wavy band with stars. Other pages bring in fans, a bow, buttons, leaves, a spiral and checker panels, plus an envelope, heart rain and imaginary heart flowers.

Choose a page

For broad spaces, start with the plain heart, ribbon, spiral or envelope. Choose the size pairs or three buttons to compare visible shapes. Patchwork, checker panels and the border suit repeated colors; the wreath and leafy vines have smaller plant details. The umbrella and three flowers offer separate shapes to color one at a time.

Try it together

Match the same-sized hearts on the six-heart page and give each pair one color. On the button page, color the two four-hole buttons alike and the two-hole button differently. Alternate two colors in the checker panels. A finished envelope or flower page can decorate a handmade card; keep the artwork whole or fold the printed sheet.
