Spider and Open Web — pumpkin carving stencil

A hanging spider sits beside the corner of a web. The web is deliberately broken into broad separate bars and curved segments, so its light spaces stay connected.

A closer look at this pattern

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

Transfer every individual web segment, the hanging thread and the spider’s connected body and legs. Follow the gaps in the paper pattern instead of drawing a continuous web over them.

Leave these areas connected

Keep all white gaps between adjacent web arcs and spokes. A closed web loop could isolate a retained area; the breaks are structural parts of this stencil.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

Print in the 180–185 mm range and inspect the bends in the lower spider legs and the smallest web gaps. The full-width layout needs a broad front area with little curvature.

Print width: 180–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
