Faces use separate eyes, ears and whiskers; silhouettes remove the whole cat shape. Look at the paper preview to compare the pieces you will cut and the light gaps that need to stay connected.

A little help choosing

Pick a pose, then check its outline.

01

For a classic Halloween cat

The Arched Black Cat has a raised back and curled tail. The Cat with a Witch Hat turns the pumpkin into a face, while Cat and Moon adds separate sky shapes. Choose by the silhouette and how much room the ears, tail or hat need.

04

For patterns with a frame or curl

The window frame deliberately has open corners. The loaf and curled cat leave gaps beside their tails. Keep these light channels when tracing: joining the surrounding dark shapes would isolate pieces of pumpkin shell.

Can I turn a cat coloring page into a pumpkin carving stencil?

A coloring outline usually has enclosed spaces that would fall loose if every line were cut through. These cat stencils use filled cut-away shapes and open connections for the shell that remains. If you draw your own cat, first decide which shapes to remove and where the remaining pieces attach; a thin outline alone is not a ready-to-carve template.

Pumpkin previews are illustrations. Check the printed pattern against your pumpkin before carving.
