A closer look at this pattern

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

Transfer the sleeping cat, separate tail and the two book pages. Each page is a filled opening with gently curved upper and lower edges.

Leave these areas connected

Keep the vertical strip between the pages and the horizontal strip beneath the cat. Do not connect the pages around the spine or join the cat to the book.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

The open book sets the design’s width. Position its two outer edges on the front and leave enough space above for both of the cat’s ears.

Print width: 160–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
