The midnight lookout

Cat and Moon — pumpkin carving stencil

A sitting cat with pointed ears and a curled tail shares the scene with a crescent moon and a small star. The cat is a solid silhouette, so there are no separate facial details to reproduce.

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

Transfer the cat and its connected tail as one silhouette. The crescent and star are two separate dark cut-outs; they do not connect to the cat.

Leave these areas connected

Keep the light space inside the tail curl open to the surrounding shell. Do not close the curl into a complete ring or add eye holes inside the removed cat silhouette.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

This is a tall design: check the moon at the top and the cat’s base as well as the width. Leave room for the tail on the right, or flip the complete scene to place it on the left.

Print width: 160–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
