A closer look at this pattern

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

Follow the dog’s complete outside edge as one opening, including the tail, rounded head and short legs. The silhouette has no internal eye or coat details.

Leave these areas connected

Leave the long space below the belly and between the legs intact. Preserve the open angle beneath the tail instead of joining it to the back with an extra cut.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

This is a low, wide dog. Measure from the tail tip to the nose, and choose a front area wide enough to keep the long back from wrapping around the pumpkin.

Print width: 150–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
