A closer look at this pattern

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

The resting head, paws and body form one opening. The long tail curve is a second opening that sweeps around the right side.

Leave these areas connected

Preserve the light gap between the body and tail. Do not connect the two shapes at their closest point or add closed eye outlines inside the removed silhouette.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

Allow for the tail below and to the right of the body. This low arrangement suits a broad front area; the width should include the projecting forepaws.

Print width: 150–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
