A closer look at this pattern

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

Transfer the dog, crescent and star as three separate openings. Follow the lifted muzzle, foreleg notch and the tail sweeping behind the seated body.

Leave these areas connected

Leave the space between the dog’s nose and the moon intact. Keep the crescent open on its inner side and preserve the light notch beside the foreleg.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

Check the top of the moon and the base of the seated dog. The star extends left of the dog, so a body-only width check would miss part of the scene.

Print width: 160–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
