A closer look at this pattern

What to cut. What to keep.

Follow these shapes

The two eyes, two cheek dots and mouth are five separate cut-outs. Trace the flat upper edge of the mouth and its rounded lower edge.

Leave these areas connected

Keep both cheeks separate from the mouth and preserve the light space beneath each eye. The absence of teeth does not mean these separate holes should be joined.

Fit this design to your pumpkin

Measure across the cheek dots as well as the smile: the cheeks are the widest part of the face. Their position matters when fitting the template to a narrow pumpkin.

Print width: 130–185 mm. Check the whole print against your pumpkin before transferring; this range does not guarantee the design will be easy to carve.
